A building permit is not needed for:
- A one story detached accessory building used as a tool or a storage shed,
a playhouse or a similar use, provided that the projected roof area does
not exceed 120 square feet.
- Fences not over six feet high.
- Retaining walls which are not over four feet in height measured from the
bottom of the footing to the top of the wall, unless it is used to support
a surcharge.
- Platforms, walks and driveways not more than 30 inches above grade and
not over any basement or story below.
- Painting, papering and similar finish work.
- Window awnings supported by an exterior wall of a residential home when
projecting not more than 54 inches.
- Prefabricated swimming pools accessory to a single story family home in
which the pool walls are entirely above the adjacent grade and if the
capacity does not exceed 5,000 gallons.
