Waste Prevention and Management
By burying it in a landfill
(out of sight, out of mind), we're asking our kids, grand-
and great-grandkids to clean up our trash after us. We're quite
capable of cleaning up after ourselves, thank you, so what should we
do to change that behavior?
What is trash? You might have never thought to try to define it,
because its meaning seems so obvious. Or does it? Even if you are an
avid recycler who doesn't practice any waste prevention, you can do
much better for the environment than you are now doing.
"Huh? I am preventing waste by recycling, aren't I?"
The answer to this question is 'Actually, no'. Trash can be reduced, prevented,
and minimized. Not only will this be kind to the environment, reducing
your needs will save you money!
