Reducing, Recycling and Reusing
The landfill is no place to store materials. The City of Fortuna is
dedicated to reducing the flow of that waste. Recycling not only saves
the natural resources that the product is made from, but also the
water and energy used to make it from scratch. Recycling one
aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for 3 hours or a 100-watt
light bulb for 4 hours.

Toddy Thomas' 8th Grade class says...
"Recycling helps because instead of just making trash and more
trash, you would be reducing the pollution and would be using less
energy to make 'new' products. If everyone in our community uses the
three 'R's', reduce your intake, reuse what products you can for as
long as you can, and recycle whatever products you have used, we can
save the friendly and clean environment for our prosperity."
"Fortuna also is helping to remind you that by recycling you are
keeping the air clean so that we have our beautiful redwoods that
not only the residents enjoy but also the tourists that visit here,
and since we are a big tourist place that would just make sense that
we would want tourists to keep coming."
