What is Rot?

Composting (rot) is an easy way to recycle most of the organic materials generated at home or specific types of businesses. Whether you live in a house, apartment , or mobile home, composting is an easy and fun way to combine your yard trimmings and kitchen scraps into a valuable soil amendment.

Studies show that 25 to 30% of a family's waste is organic. The following materials can all be composted: fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, grass clippings, manures, hair, pasta, bread, in short, all food scraps. However, it is recommended that you do not compost meat, bones, dairy products and pet waste. More directions are here.
