Proposed Summer Sewer Charges
In the past, the sewer rates in Fortuna were a flat monthly rate. Under the new proposed rates, the residential sewer charges will be based on the amount of water used.
What that means is, the more water you use, the more you will pay for sewer.

HOWEVER, in the Summer you will NOT be charged extra SEWER for the water used to irrigate your lawn and garden.
The proposed rates include a provision for Summer sewer charges to accommodate the people who water their lawns and gardens. The Summer sewer rate WILL NOT be charged on the amount of water used during the Summer months, but instead will be based on an average from your Winter month's water usage.
If your average winter usage is 500 cubic feet of water and your Summer usage is 1500 cubic feet of water, your Summer sewer bills will be based on the 500 cubic feet not the 1500.
The Winter months include November through April and the Summer months are May through October.
